Fanart: Auguries of Innocence
For my second piece for [info]paintedspires, I had the prompt:
"To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour."

from Auguries of Innocence by William Blake.

I love a bit of Blake, so I made a graphic book using favourite lines from this poem. Featuring team Shep, Caldwell, Sam, Carson and others. Beware of spoilers for season 4!

Fanart: We are stardust
Here it is, my first entry for the utterly fabulous [info]paintedspires fanart fest. My prompt was "Rodney as The Doctor (old skool), John as the hot Companion."
David Hewlett was talking about Who again, I couldn't resist!
I tried Rodney as Four first (because Rodney's definitely a Tom Baker fan!), but he looks very, very silly with curly hair. And he's too young to be Three, so I went with my other favourite Doctor, Ten.

Productive day. Yes.
I have not spent the day listening to John Barrowman's unspeakably cheesy album. I certainly have not been singing along and dancing round my room. YOU'LL NEVER PROVE IT.
Here, let me distract you with some pretty.

Weekly update: 5 things.
1. My new house is very spiffy indeed. However, we have no internet. :( And Glastonbury tickets are on sale today, so my housemates and I have trekked out to uni, at 7AM ON A SUNDAY. UNIMPRESSED, MICHAEL EAVIS, UNIMPRESSED. And it's snowing outside! Not just a little bit, but seriously heavy snow fall. Urgh.

2. I have been yabbering on about how great it would be to have a dirigible in London since I moved here. Certainly the best way to beat the traffic - and so much more stylish than the tube. I watched Rise of the Cybermen last night, and there they are, beautiful air ships floating over London. AWESOME. I'm formulating a plan.

3. I finally watched the end of Doctor Who season 3, and I was most impressed. Doctor/Master is clearly the ship of winners! Also, I Can't Decide by the Scissor Sisters is my new evil overlord theme tune. I am bitterly jealous of those with TVs who have already seen the start of season 4 and the Torchwood finale.

4. What I really need for my [info]paintedspires piece are large, high quality and bright caps from the first scene of Doppelganger. Can anyone share?
ETA: I got one that I needed from SG caps, so now all I need is this shot in HQ. Anyone got one?

5. Mmm, pretty Tennant. Lyrics from Across the Universe (I was listening to the Rufus Wainwright version, but it's originally a Beatles song). Textures from [info]ownthesunshine and [info]apod.

12:45, restate my assumptions
I'm a massive fan of Darren Aronofsky, and I saw his new(ish) film The Fountain for the first time recently. It was beautifully made although not as dark or as subtle as his earlier work. So I went and rewatched Pi, which I love more every time I see it; it has so many intricate details and layers of meaning that it's a different experience each time.

So I felt compelled to make some pretty. It's SGA/Pi, possibly the most pretentious thing ever? But I think Rodney would appriciate Pi, he has that sort of mind.

Can't take the sky
After my babbling about Tochwood, [info]shewalksonroses kindly directed me to the utterly fabulous Out of Joint by [info]honorh, a Firefly/Doctor Who crossover story.

I did not stay up til 5am reading it. I absolutely did not spend all day making Captain Mal/Captain Jack art.

Alright, alright, yes I did. They're so shiny, how could I resist?
