For my second piece for
paintedspires, I had the prompt:
"To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour."
from Auguries of Innocence by William Blake.
I love a bit of Blake, so I made a graphic book using favourite lines from this poem. Featuring team Shep, Caldwell, Sam, Carson and others. Beware of spoilers for season 4!
+ notes
I orginally wanted to make something featuring the chair and the city, trying to express how it would feel to be connected to all of Atlantis. But that didn't work on a large scale, so I shrunk it down to make #2. At the last possible minute I decided to make a poetry book, but I just about got it finished in time. :D
Each piece is an attempt to capture the feel and the theme of the words, and how they might apply to the SGA crew. I feel a bit mean for painting Caldwell as the bad guy, because I actually rather like him. I've also started to find him rather attractive... and that's just odd. I'm most pleased with the one of Rodney and Carson, because the words are so well suited to them. ♥
